Default Anyone ever use the roadster support beams? Also why isn't my after run coolant pump going on?

World impex says they are $26 a beam x2 and then the bolts are $1.48 each x4.

Do you think it's worth $50 bucks one day?? Or it doesn't stiffen up the chassis @ all?

Anyone have photos of under a roadster with the belly pan off? Or a shot of the additional bracing??

I know a lot of BMW guys use the X brace that comes on convertibles on the coupes and claim it stiffens up the chassis a lot.

>Edit; On the after run coolant pump... I'm not driving my car now, however, I noticed the last two days of driving it that the pump wasn't on when I turned the car off no matter what. Is there a fuse/relay I can check that is known to blow? Is the pump just dead @ 86k?? Thanks guys!

Default I looked at those once before and couldn't see where they would

tie into my car. If you can figure out how they attach I'd get a set.

Default after run pump... is controlled by the fan control module

I don't see any fuses specific to the pump in the wiring diagram
typically:
when the fans quit it's the module
when the pump quits, it's the pump

"after run" doesn't really describe this pump!
it runs all the time (the engine is running) plus 10 more minutes each time the ignition is switched off

70-ish, maybe 80k miles of useful life has been my experience with 'em

Default So -- Russ, Are you saying that the after run coolant pump provides primary coolant circulation --

---to the turbo bearing? That is a bit scary as the pump can fail without indication other than listening closely. I guess we should all be listening each time we shut down. I had always just assumed that when the engine was operating , the main water pump provided circulation to the turbo also (kind of like a heater core), but now that you have said this, I realize that that is not necessarily true.

Default unplug and plug back in, turn ignition on see if it works...

I've seen this work a few times, but generally the fault is a bad pump. the pump is a lot cheaper than the control module. I've replaced both in the past.

Default My fans also don't go on all that often>>>

In the last few days they have though, sometimes!

I don't know what is going on though. It just seems like every time my buddy stops driving his Corrado VR6- his fans pop on after EVERY drive, like my car will be overheating after a good run, or at a stop light, and the fans wont kick on...

So try fan switch first?

Is there a way to test the after run coolant pump?

Could this be the reason my car has been heating up @ stop lights ect? I'm pretty sure the turbo gets coolant circulated by the waterpump like the rest of the car though...

Default 1st picture I could find............

This was taken while installing race cats. You can see the 2 bolts on the top right where the support is bolted to the sub-frame. Looks like the sub-frame is "formed" specifically for it.

Maybe different sub-frame on roadster vs. coupe?

Default I can kind of see where it would bolt to the subframe on the coupe

but it looks like the other end of the brace attaches to the frame rail somewhere, that was the end I couldn't locate.
