The handle came out in my hand like the plastic hinges had melted or something. It was also coated in white lithium grease which subsequently got all over the interior before I realized it was on my fingers. I'm glad I always carry a small microfiber cloth in the car.

Time to go to the Home Despot for some socket screws and speednuts.

I managed to get mine open by removing the panel on the passenger side dash. From in there you can get at the button that's holding it closed. It is closed isn't it?
;o)

well the handle fell off in my hands and looked like it had been put on with a big wood screw as a pivot point. In order to get what looks like the lining to separate from the door i took out the six or eight T25 torx screws (lining and door now separate) and then could see where the 4 bolts held the locking section to the upper door lip itself. I removed them and did a better temporary fix on the latch with a small bit if stainless steel acting as the lower pivot point rather than the plastic. All was going well (famous last words) until i reached into the glove box to put one of the screws in the back in and must have pressed down on it too hard There was a snapping sound and the two little gas pistons came apart in the back and it all went pretty much pear shaped at that point. I ended up taking them out so I could at least close the glove box and think im going to have to pull the dash apart to get it all back together.. Did you see the post where I asked where to get the Bentley book !!!
