Default My baby is on the tow truck again :-(

So I'm driving my baby, just going for a cruise, when all of a sudden, my car started shaking, high-reved, and then shut down. Lucky for me, I was able to man handle her into a turnout. Upon trying to restart her, I was greeted with a high pitch wail...I'm thinking timing belt; what do you guys think? I'm also a little confused on this warranty for the timing belt. Is there any way this can help me? Can you gurus put this in laymens terms for me? Also, if you can let me know what else could be wrong with my baby, how much this repair may cost, and the down time I'm looking at, that would be wonderful.
Sad and depressed,
Joe

Yeah, got the inspection done on thurs of last week when they changed out my battery. They told me it was starting to fray and needed to be changed. Ive got 72k on her now, and know it needs changing, but I didn't have the $1500 to blow at the time. Couple days later, this....

By "they", do you mean a dealer? I'm not sure how it pertains to the TB settlement

yup, the dealership. Is the timing belt going to be covered by the new warranty, or is just a bunch of hoo-hah?

Default So had they not inspected the TB, it would have been covered?

So assuming this is the prob with my car, and the TB did fail on me; what am I looking at now?

Default No it would not have been covered...>>

Only if the inspection had shown it was in good shape, which at your mileage it rarely would be.. This is knda why we preach getting them done as soon after 60K as possible. Bad luck.

Repairs on TB breaks can run $3-8K depending on how much damage you did....Not good news I'm sure.

I took the preaching to heart, but being a full time student, and testing/training to be a firefighter, made it very difficult to find time and $$$. Live and let learn I guess. Is a high pitch wail what should be expected when the TB breaks? Thanks so much guys!

Default Could be....(the Wail)...>>

I guess it could depending on how the teeth stripped off the belt. When you try to start it does the motor just spin and sound like the starter is not engaging? Is that the wail? If so, that's the diagnosis..
