Rode in a Mercielago and Viper at speed yesterday! Yeeehaaaaaaa!
Portland had a racing event yesterday. It was a charity/fund raising event for a local children's hospital. For $25 you could ride in the exotic car of your choice. Cars were; Viper, Lola, Ferrari 360 Modena, Lamborghini Mercielago, Corvette Z06, Panoz, Cobra Roadsters. I road in the Viper, then the Lambo. Both at 140+ mph. The Viper was a hoot and a real shakey ride, but the Lambo was entirely different. The ride was much smoother, but more torque. The driver footed it going into the straight. Ahh, the sound of that engine in the back was just heaven.
Turns out the driver runs a driving school and after talking to him about my Lotus Elise upcoming he said to bring it in and I would get instruction on driving the car to the limit. I'm definately going to do that. There's another class sanctioned by the SCCA that goes for about 3 days and $2k where you can come out of there with your SCCA license and be able to drive your car at SCCA sanctioned events...granted it would be at the entry level racing category, but one step at a time.

It will be limited driving at the track...
It won't be very much. I do want to learn the proper way to drive "this car" though. I figure taking the driving course is not only good for learning the Elise, but better driving to avoid sticky situations in today's traffic.

Unfortunately true with many of the excellent "track cars". GT3's are the same. WAY too many guys
that have the $$$ to buy one, but not enough skills to pay the bills when it comes to driving it. 3... count em' three GT3's totaled at P.I.R. last year.
