Houston

Finally got to work today. The weather is beautiful and welcome after sweating through the last few days with no power.

Minor damage to the house, fencing, and garage. The garage flooded and I need to check closely - two of the supporting beams are off kilter. Some roof damage from a falling tree, and the fence came down in places.

Still no power but at least around my part of Houston there was no wholesale loss of houses and businesses.

Strangely, you probably know more about the damage to the coastal parts of Houston than I do since I haven't had power since Friday night.

Good to be in Texas though. Most everyone is working hard and there is very little crying about when is FEMA going to take care of me.

Glad you are OK.

The nanny-complex (whine- when will the government bail me out) irritates me, but we get the government we deserve.

Here in Houston too. Our house didn't take much damage, my brothers ceiling sheetrock fell and ruined his room, roof lost some shingles, the norm. Yea the thing i've noticed alot around here is nobody is complaining except all the poor folk who were not prepared and refused to evacuate.. kinda put themself in the situation if you ask me. I've been out the last few days cutting trees down and cleaning up the streets. That's why i'm proud to be a Texan, eveyone is pulling together to help less fortunate. Glad you're ok bud
