Default if some of you could only SEE the state of my car...

2.5 years after moving to new york city....

key marks on the passenger side (all the way across)....a dent on the driver's side rear panel...a discoloured front lower grille....part of the plastic shield on the underbelly of the car just fell off the other day---honest! flew right off!

a widening gap in the rear right taillight attachment to the bumper....2 screw holes from other people's license plates on the rear bumper, a crack in the rear bumper.....scratches on the front headlight.

all 4 chocolate wheels are curbed and fully rashed. a bubble in the front left tire. i've had 5 alignments in the last 4 months for hitting giant potholes.

the rubber liner around the engine bay broken into pieces....

a gigantic piece of plastic stuck to the car for the past 3 months on the exhaust....it won't come off...the car still smells like burnt plastic...

a hole in the shift boot. a loose raffi ****.

the car hasn't been washed for 2 months. it looks grey.

there is more...much more..i'm just too fookin tired to remember right now.

but i gotta say, THE SHOW MUST GO ON.

it's become a warrior now. brooklyn loves my TT and my TT loves brooklyn.

Default I think you've itemized the reasons I'll never drive my car in NYC.

Have made that mistake in the past, with similar results, when doing rotations there. Cars really have no business being in NYC as far as I can tell, unless they're po-po, or painted yellow with a service light on top. Brooklyn may be different in some respects, but you've listed enough reasons to convince me. As we know too well from the situation our country's in, funding "warriors" for extended periods of time in hostile territory tends to fuel a nasty deficit. Sh*t, keeping a TT going in God's Country involves a fair amount, leave it to everso to paint a darker picture of TT ownership.....muaaaahhaaahaa.

Cheers man!

Default Not every NYC car ends up like that >>

I grew up in brooklyn, drove in NYC all the time, and my parents are still there. Our cars never had that much damage to them, Sal lives in brooklyn and his car is beautiful. Bumper damage, scratches, and curbed wheels can happen in any well populated area. Also not everything that is wrong with his car is neccesarily caused by living in the city, for example:

the rubber liner around the engine bay broken into pieces....

a gigantic piece of plastic stuck to the car for the past 3 months on the exhaust....it won't come off...the car still smells like burnt plastic...

a hole in the shift boot. a loose raffi ****.

the car hasn't been washed for 2 months. it looks grey

that stupid antenna on the roof...it's broken off

Default i never told you guys?

yep...it was delivered in the spring...in LONDON.

we sold it immediately because of the drastic depreciation it has! HAHA. I never actually saw the car in person, but i got a good chunk of change out of the deal...so when i go to London this christmas, i'll be renting a Brera for a week with some of the loot....

i couldn't import it to the USA legally, of course...so selling it was the only option.

my cousin, who actually did drive the car...said that it is a STUNNING car to look at...really gorgeous (as you can see in the pic)...but he said it was REALLY bad to drive---flexing all over the place, wobbly, and slow....

here's a picture of the car i won..Poor brera...sold without its owner there...

Default nice...and you benefitted from the weak dollar. awesome!

here's what I would have done...

remove the engine, ship to US

disassemble some of body, so it looks like a parts car. ship those parts to US.

ship rolling body shell to US.

yes, I know people who have done this. registering it is more difficult. just don't get pulled over.

wait, you live in NYC. never mind. you did the right thing! =)
