Timing Belt SF bay area
"found excessive wear on TB, advised customer belt needs to be replaced"
i was very surprised about excessive wear?? .. i decided to get a 2nd opinion at another audi dealer - the 2nd dealer would NOT look inspect it (even if i paid)...
i was quoted $1800 to have it replaced along with water pump ...
anybody know of a 3rd party in Sf bay area that knows Audi TT that could inpsect it or knows of another dealer/3rd party that replaced theirs for less $$ ????
thanks
Remember, the part that fails is usually not the belt, but a tensioner...and water pumps. With your cars age, and the fact you are still running OEM gear...it just may be time regardless of the answer you get.
ALl of these locations are a lot like doctors....you can go for multiple opinions to you get the one you want to hear. Keep that in mind as well...IMO
If there are any symptons of a failed tensioner or water pump I'd presume that they are very short lived.
