Default yesterday, while driving on very wet roads on the highway, a loud high-pitched shrill
noise from the passenger side (i think). went on for about 1-1/2 minutes and finally went away. happened before on a rainy day and usually when the roads are really puddled up.

anyone know what that might be? a little scary. i was going about 60mph and i moved over to the slow lane just in case something was about to give. but the sound eased up. it was a constant high-pitched noise. could it have been a rock or something got caught up in the brake pads and rotor?

Default A high-pitched shrill coming from the passenger side?
I get the same issue when my wife is riding in the car.

Default wise guy. i took care of that noise long ago...
and only have the kids booster seats in the TT.

Default Might be water on the serpentine belt.....>
which may point to your tensioner not tensioning enough....

Check the wear mark on the tensioner to determine if you need a new belt. Guys have had tensioners fail too...

Default My tensioner started making a high pitched noise when it was about to fail...
kind of like a high/loud whirring noise. Not necessarily a shrill though.

Default could be. was it intermittent? or more frequent?
only happened to me twice...and only on very rainy days.

"Rainy days" are the key words here. The serpentine belt is not enclosed..

Default thx Steve. that's a good possibility... and in which case, would make sense.
the noise could be that the belt may be slightly off the tensioner or skewed a little to make that noise.

Default Mine was intermittent, and then became constant.
Never had anything to do with rain on mine though.

Default makes sense. water gets on the belt...makes noise due to tensioner...water evaporates due
to heat and motion. noise goes away.

good call. will let you know if it is. would be good to know for diagnosis for others.
