Tech diagnosis: am getting a chirping noise from the motor upon throttle input...
1) assuming it's the wastegate, is this the death knell for the turbo, or is it no big deal?
2) is there anything else it could be?
This is an '02 225 with 55K miles and all the mods in the sig below (except I'm back to the stock DV - diaphragm DVs are just so much quicker).
Mine turned out to be that the bolts loosened up slightly on the turbo. To be exact, the bolts that connect the downpipe to the turbo. Hence the chirp when it was cold. I guess the metal would expand enough when it was hot to tighten itself up.
I hope yours turns out to be the same, since it was an easy fix :-)
