Default To peeps with DirecTV or Dish Network..... How do they compare with cable?

In the west suburb here thinking of using DirecTV or the Dish Network instead of cable. Any pros / cons? Reception issues during bad weather??

Thanks!

A BILLION times better IMHO. I get maybe 3-4 outages per year, and they last between 5-20 minutes.

Default You can get a DirectTV reciever with a PVR built in,

and it is AWESOME -- not quite as nice as TiVo, but pretty darn close.

Reception is great, outages rare, and picture quality is superior to basic cable - not sure how it stacks up with digital cable...

Default I think Comcast over-compresses their digital signal and it looks like Poop!

I've been a DirecTV customer for probably the past 10 years. I have a a DirecTV high definition receiver and a DirecTivo PVR (This will change your life!!).

I've gotten my brother and my Dad to drop cable and come over to DirecTV. They both have a high def receiver and a DirecTivo.

Do it, you won't regret it! DirecTivo is a must!!!

The DirectTV PVR is a tivo .. the dish one isn't. The tivo one rocks, I'd suggest DirectTV simply for that fact alone.. (And the four-tuner, HDTV DirectTV Tivo box coming out later this year looks especially nice..)

Default I have a Philips DirecTivo DSR6000 receiver and it is probably the best electronic piece I've ever

purchased.

They are discontinued now, but I scored two of them for $99 a piece (retail was over $400) a couple years ago.

Having the reciever and Tivo in one box means the menus are integrated, and they share one remote. The thing is FLAWLESS.

Default Oops, I meant DishNetwork...

Their PVR is not as nice as TiVo, but it is free with the service.
