anyone know a reasonable mechanic for clutch replacement?
I live in Milwaukee, and I bought an OEM clutch for my '96 A4 QM, and so far my lowest quote for labor alone is $750. This pisses me off, because I was quoted $400 by a mechanic a couple months ago, but now they changed their quote after they found out I would be supplying the clutch. I went into International Autos (dealer) and they said $400 approx. I called them back today, and now they are saying $1000. I know it's supposed to be a 10 hour job, but I was reading somewhere that experienced mechanics can do it in 5. If anyone knows a mechanic that is reasonable, I'd even be willing to drive down to Chicago if it would save me $250 or so. Thanks in advance.
