I got a quote for $70 for 4 wheel alignment from suburban tire and $170 from the dealer....

Default I got a quote for $70 for 4 wheel alignment from suburban tire and $170 from the dealer....

Is there a real advantage to going to the dealer?. The other place says that they have done work on Audis before and never had problems. Please help, need advice

Ask if the price includes a subframe adjustment to equalze camber side to side

Default Dealer Machine is (supposedly) the only one that can measure for raised toe.

According to Hunter they only make that measureable to Audi.

By raised toe do you mean the toe measurement at full droop or vice versa Russ?

If you notice how the tie rods slip into that hole on the top of the spindle, you can move the tie rod up and down in the hole. That is how raised toe is adjusted. The Audi machine is the only one with the software in it to measure it.

Default Ok, now I am really confused. I went to the dealer and he told me that they did not sense any ...

problems with the alignments. He said that they took it for a test drive and reach up to 80mph and did not see anything wrong. Is it possiable to get a new shocks and springs without needing alignments?. How can find out by driving it?. Earlier this morning I took it to this $70.00 but could not get reading because the front bumper was too low and adviced me that nothing could be done other than going back to the OEM shocks and springs.

Default You can't tell by a test drive.

Unless something was really out of wack. If you lowered the car the alignment changed. It is possible it went into spec but highly unlikely. If you're car is on an alignment machine you can push down on the bumper and watch the measurements change. Unless they set it up on the machine, you can't tell.
