Need a recommendation for a place or person that does minor wheel repair...
Smacked into the grand canyon of potholes tonight westbound on randolph just east of michigan going about 40 mph. Beware if you ever venture that way. Didn't see it coming, it was dark. From the feel and sound of the impact I was sure both passenger side rims were bent but it turns out the car's got some strong rims. Nice 2" long gash running across the lip edge on both wheels, but not bent so repair is just cosmetic. Looks like a simple refinishing on the edge is all it takes w/o even removing the tire then application of clearcoat. Any ideas? Anyone here know how to do this whom I can offer compensation for their services? Wheel finish is polished aluminum with clearcoat, doesn't seem painted other than the clearcoat.

make sure you file a claim with the city. I spent 4 hours in the city yesterday.
the pothole I hit was soo big it almost took up the entire left lane. So I drive down to the Chicago SkyWay tower yesterday to file a police report and claim, and when the cop gets there he asks me for my insurance, registration cards, along with the VIN and liscense #. Of course I took another vehicle down there, so I had none of that. The cop said since I started a police report, I needed to show proof of insurance, or else he was going to WRITE ME A TICKET! I was like hold on, your going to write me a ticket when I could do this over the phone or online without showing anything? His response was he needed it, or else I was getting a ticket for not having an insurance card. He was one of the biggest jerk cops I have ever seen, the people in the tower couldn't believe how he was acting(he was the backup tower cop that day), they said the usual cop would never be as difficult. So I had to have my insurance card, registration card both faxed to the chicago skyway, while I sat there. I almost lost it. For the amount of money tolls cost, the potholes this big shouldn't exist, the skyway commissioner agreed. I just need to get my estimates, so I can send those in with pics.

good idea but for the amount of damage I have, seems more trouble than it's worth...
If my rims needed full replacement like yours, I'd be all over a claim too but I think with my minimal damage, I'm better off paying the few $$ it takes to fix instead of dealing with legwork and potential headache.
Besides, I think I'll get laughed at for filing a claim for something that looks like curb rash when in reality it is curb rash from hitting a gigantic pothole. It will be tough to prove legitimate pothole damage on something that looks like curb rash.

true.. the pothole I hit was less than a mile away from the tower.
We tried taking pics while driving, but it was a little tough to take a pic in the left lane while exiting the edens. I explained where the crater was to the cop, and arnold took a drive down memory lane and came back saying he saw it. The city knew about the hole I hit, and are trying to fix it.
