Default Thanks to everyone @ Grattan

Big Thanks to Mike F. for organizing the entire event, Larry B. for instructing and teaching, Mike S. for taking awesome photographs, My instructor Bob S. for helping me get smoother, Ken K. for taking yet another ride with me and for giving me a ride too!

Thanks to the guys on the highway (wont mention names) for the great ride back to the city, that was almost as much fun as the track!

And Thanks to the new guy Tom for taking back one of my tires so I could sit normal, I am not bringing tires in my TT ever again, too much of a hassle!

Really just a giant appreciation and Thanks to all that had a part in this wonderful event.

I can not say enough - what a great weekend - even though it was cold, it was fun!

NO DOUBT, my favorite track to date.

Thanks again.

Default Thanks but I have to say that

I had some pretty damn good drivers helping me so far. Here is the history of my instructors from last year to now:

Mike Langenfeld @ Gingerman
Mike Witbrod @ Autobahn
Ken Koppitz @ Autobahn
Tony @ PNS @ Autobahn (Please dont kill Tony)
Bob Switney @ Grattan
Ken Koppitz @ Grattan
Larry Boyer @ Grattan

I really have to give all the credit to these guys, had I been on my own I would have NEVER been able to understand what it means to be "Smooth".
Not only did I drive with each of these people, but I also drove as passenger (with the exception of Tony, again, Please dont kill him - violence is never the answer) and driving as passenger really shows you what you need to know. At leat for me as I have to see "it"!

It was really almost funny when Larry hopped in my car yesterday. First he was like "Wow, you sure have done alot to this car" - lol. And then when he was driving, he had a style that was incredible to watch, he had 2 fingers on the wheel to show me that he had almost no effort, no forcing the car, no pushing really hard or a death grip, and talk about smooth, man that guy knows how to drive.

I have to mention that Ken had a different line, but just as smooth and amazing to see how everyone had different lines, but yet still smooth and really fast. Once I started seeing hands, feet and the line, I took it and used it to my advantage.

Although I am still a little sucky, I am learning and totally look forward to the next event.

I am truly humbled and addicted

Thanks again.

A~

Default He drove very well this weekend. I have him sideways in 3 as well! Saw him even pass Jamie

who is a very, very solid driver in his own right.

Uneek was chasing Jamie pretty close for a few laps and one lap, bamm, they come back around Uneek's in front. Not sure if Jamie had a "moment" or not. If it were a race (IT'S NOT), Uneek wouldn't have gotten by for sure and I am betting Jamie gave him a buy on the straight out of courtesty, but still, Uneek was right there.

Great driving by all. The only off tracks I saw were the grey RX8, Eli's pearl coupe (twice at 3) and the black A8.

Was a great time, with only the hard corp sticking showing up at all and the REALLY hard corp defying the forcast and staying for Sunday. And what happened? ZERO ACCUMULATION OF SNOW Sat/Sun with Sunday being by far the nicest day of the weekend!

Guts = Reward this past weekend.

Default I was impressed with Uneek... dude was moving.

He was first out in our group and I was towards the back of the line. By the time I got out, dude was right on me on my first lap out. I let him go on my second or third lap.

I have a more difficult time driving in my mirrors (I'm still a n00b!) and I don't mind following one bit. Can always learn something by following others.

My mistake was letting Stein go by!!!! cuz I got hung up behind a couple older Audis for a whole lap and then I lost touch with those guys.

Default You Sir....

Have had the benefit of some powerfully good instruction. It's nice to see you give those guys props.

Boyer is amazing - he could probably drive the track with his pinky and be smoother than everyone else.

Blackhawk is next - Sign-up as soon as registration opens next month.

Default OK, BIll. Where were you? And BHF is the next CHI event, but there are plenty of Mdwst events

in the next few months.

Brainerd, Waterford Hills, Hearland Park, Mid Ohio (full, through).

Waterford is the closest and is quite fun little track!
