Anyone here want to talk me out of . . .
supercharging my Z this summer? why? I've been presented with an offer to pick up an intercooled Vortech SC kit for my Z for $2500. That's $3K off retail. Local Z dude / friend of mine picked one up, but now decided to go the twin turbo route. Needs to sell his kit ASAP.
The Vortech kits aren't selling as well now b/c the twin turbo kits can easily be tuned to 500-700hp. So everyone is going with those now. I dunno . . . I think I'd be happy with an easily-bolt-on safe kit that's capable of 400ish rwhp.

the . . .
vortech SC kit is about the most safe "out of the box" for the Z. The ATI sc kit needs a LOT of extra parts to keep it from popping engines. most of the twin turbo kits need both $2K in installation cost (engine has to be pulled), plus loss of airbags (to place the intercooler, etc.), plus another couple $K in extra parts to keep the kit safe.

DO it. I S/c'ed my 2.8, def don't regret it.
Low boost and low maintenance once you get it up and running. Twin turbo sounds nice, but in Chicago where the frick are you going to use 700hp?? On the edens? Dan Ryan? Kennedy? I don't think so. That would be a sweet setup for say. . . Colorado, Nevada, Wyoming etc.
