xpost from b6 forum... need some advice for troubleshooting a xenon light...
Every once in awhile when I go to turn them on, sometimes one side or the other won't light up. Usually it happens with the passenger side, but sometimes the driver side does it as well.
What happens is when I turn on the light switch, the bulb will flash, as if it is trying to ignite, but then it won't stay lit. If I flick the switch on and off a few times, eventually it will stay lit. This is a random, intermittant occurance.
Has anyone seen this before? I am wondering if it is a sign of the bulb starting to go bad, or a more sinister problem, like maybe the ignitor/ballast is going bad. I think I can rule out the switch because if the switch was bad, then the bulb would never even flash at all.
Any suggestions? When a bulb starts to go bad, does it act like this, or would it simply stop working all together?
