"Hello All,

We are collecting supplies this week for victims of the Katrina disaster. Three people - Brad Szczecinski, Ann Benoist and Mary Danis - will be driving to Baton Rouge at the end of the week. We are trying to fill a 24' truck (we can always get another one if enough help shows up) with supplies that will go to the Baton Rouge Convention center which is housing a large numbers of evacuees. This city has tripled in size in the last 8 days and a friend of ours who is a pastor in the area has assured us that they are in desparate need of the items listed below. We ask that you collect donations and pack them in an organized manner (place items in heavy bags or boxes and have each one clearly marked with what is in it.) Please try to keep different supply categories in different boxes so as to not waste volunteers time trying to sort through stuff. Please make sure clothing is cleaned and folded.

The truck will be parked in front of Brad's place at 1545 N Bell . There will be signs up and there is a map at the bottom of this email. It will be there on Wednesday evening, Thursday evening, and Friday evening if it is not full yet. One of us will be there each nite from 6:00 - 9:00 to collect. PLEASE HELP US AND BRING AS MUCH AS YOU CAN. IT WOULD BE A SHAME TO GO DOWN THERE WITHOUT AS MUCH AS POSSIBLE. If you have stuff and cannot get there to drop it off, please contact me (Mary Danis).

I am torn on how I feel on this one but my 'good guy instinct' won out. I like what you are promoting because it is small enough to be real and not big enough to be corrupt.

Its sad but its true...there is a lot fo scam when it comes to donations, especially monetary ones. I also understand its hard for people to do it that way when Gov't isn't doing what's it supposed to and on top of it all, our tax money will go there anyways, so then people legitimatly ask why should I give more $$....this way its easier and it helps you clean up that basement or storage space.
