Front plates..
Hey fellow Chicagoers, what's the law about the front plates? I've seen some with the European plates, was wondering if i were to either remove the plate or replace it with the european plate, what's the possibility of getting pulled over? I live in Skokie also, i've seen numerous cars with and without them. Tia.

IMO the euro front plates draw more attention than no plate at all.
that being said, I've still been issued 10 no-front-plate tickets in 2005. Never when driving, always when the car was parked. I am still hoping to affix a large magnet behind the front bumper cover on my Z and attach a plate every time the car is parked.

never got pulled over for it...but...
as others said, you Will get a ticket while parked somewhere in the city, its a matter of time. I ran a euro plate on my old 90, got a ticket once or twice in a year. Most recently, I had my car sitting on my street for some time, no front bumper, plate on the front dash and still got 2 tickets in a matter of ONE week...was so pissed, contested but nothing...$100 down the drain!

I have been driving without a front plate for the past year and a half...Most cops wont
bug you unless they are having a bad day or if you are drawing more attention to yourself. Examples are Window tint, loud music, aggresive driving, no seatbelt. then they will look for other tickets they can give you.

I have no front plates on my car, the only time I get tickets is when I park at parking meters. If
you park in a lot or a parking garage no problems. Those tickets at metered spots only seem to occur in the loop where they have the meter maids looking for anything wrong to give you a ticket for. Last 4 were on south Wabash near the Hilton where the meter was paid and not expired. Same has happened up near the zoo.

well . . .
i live out in the burbs where the cops care a LOT less about the no-front-plate thing. So this would only be for those times I head into the city. I just really don't feel like "boring" two huge holes in my front bumper to affix a front plate.

I see...makes more sense now....question...does your car have a metal re-bar behind the bumper?
I guess you get what I'm getting at....if so, just use a big magnet on the outside and put plate between the 2.
