Default WTF...got my car towed from a parking lot at the Bears game yesterday!

It wasnt City towing either...some little **** hole on the Southside called R+I towing, I doubt they flat bedded it....should I be worried about anything with the drivetrain? the keys were not with the car so dont now if they dragged it out and put it on wheel trucks. We dont deal with alot of AWD issues here at Cadillac which is why I am asking here. I wasnt the only person...about 20 people parked in the lot and got towed...I think it was a few bums that made the lot look "official" took are money and ran...I was pissed. thanks for any info! GO SOX...and the Bears really suck!

Default If they towed it, they are obligated to have the knowledge to do it correctly

or they are liable.

They likely didn't tow it correctly, and likely they didn't tow it appropriately.

Have you picked it up yet? If not, bring a camera. Secondly, ask them how they towed it and ask them to mark it on the towing receipt. Lastly, bring a witness.

It they towed it with wheels on the ground (either end), the tranny is likely damaged.

Take the car to an audi dealer asap and have them look into it.

Lastly, it never pays to park at the cheaper lots at the stadiums. I used to photograph bears and bulls games all the time for my job, and I cannot tell you how many incidents like yours I've heard of. That $5-10 saved isn't worth it in the long run.

Good Luck!

Default we were late to the game...didnt have coupon parking pass

believe me I would have rather payed $50 for parking then park where I did...I never skimp on parking cost for this exact reason....I was in a pinch though...hind sight is 20/20 also! I had to get the car to leave the city so I was in huge rush and pissed off beyond belief, just to get the fvck home. Picked it up last night...seems to be driving ok?

Totally understand. I always buy my parking in advance. Planning ahead works wonders for me

Default If I were your Dad, I'd be pissed as I'd be handling the situation for you! ; )

My point, politely, was that there was "something that you could have done", shown up earlier, bought parking in advance, etc.

I just hope the cars ok.

Cheers.

Default My brother's Jetta got towed once and they hooked the tow straps around his tie rods.

Needless to say the tie rod ends and control arms were all messed up. Yes, allegedly the city is liable, but good luck trying to get any money from them. They say that if you notice any damage you're not supposed to take it off the lot. We went to Al at CPT and he's like, "What, you're supposed to fix it on the lot?!?!?" He raises a good point. Nonetheless, even if the city's at fault your complaint will get lost in a mountain of paperwork and it'll probably be even more frustrating to get any due reparations.

Default got it up in the air at my shop...front bumper was gouged and torn

on the bottom, some heavy scratches also on the underside of the bumper (very recent) not from my own previous stupidity so it must have happened when they dragged it out of the lot..I havent called the tow service yet.. Nothing looks bent so I dont think they yanked it from the tie rods...we get countless Cateras in here with bent Control arms and tie rods all the time...U would think someone who tows cars for a living should know better...
