Jump Start From Hell / Transmission Grief
Following up on my post:

Took the A6 in to Laurel Audi in Westmont where they went over the transmission to ensure no mechanical problems and accessed the TCU. No problems found in either!
The service manager says, then, it must be a faulty "Trans Valve Body (electrical)" and will cost $2100 to replace. Yikes!
And he didn't sound sure, either.
Does this sound right?

Just came back from a tranny shop in Elmhurst
They just rebuilt a guy's A8 there, $2200 for everything inlcuding a rebuilt valve body.
However, it sounds like you might have a different problem that is not the tranny, but something electrical.
They charge $850 for the rebuild plus the parts, the valve body alone is about $800 for a rebuilt unit.

Laurel Audi broke down their estimate:
Valve Body.. 1,381.61
Pangskt..... 43.74
Filter...... 89.90
ATF Oil..... 105.91
3.0 hours labor
I'm sure they're talking new parts here, but still.
I am certainly willing to give the parking garage and/or their insurance company the option of using an indie, though. Just felt I had to go through with having an authorized dealer look at it, since that's what Lee's Foreign Car Service said to do. It might have just needed a TCU reset, after all.
Laurel Audi only charged me $310 for the diagnosis, sheesh! What a nightmare.

Please disregard my confused response:
I should probably have pointed out earlier that the A6 only has 24,000 miles on it. The whole, entire car was fine until this jump-start.
Rant follows:
It is extremely expensive in downtown Chicago to get self-park. Like $300/mo. And the valet parking we have is far from cheap.
The porter wasn't even going to say anything about jump-starting the car, and thank goodness my lovely wife is the one who picked it up that night. Her habit is to immediately plop a tape into the stereo before even pulling out. And the stereo was completely dead, so she questioned it.
Only then did the porter inform her that they had jump-started the car. I can be grateful that it was duly noted before she pulled out.
