Default Incorrect drivers lic #, I might not even show up! That ticket was not written to you!

I would definitely fight it, honestly, and I'd do so by pointng it out to the judge immediately.

You might also find an attorney in the court room and ask them how to handle it. Some will tell you what to say/do in 20 seconds at no charge.

Sounds like you should beat it.

Default Ah, I forgot about the IL license thing. I always either use my bond card or go to the station

and leave cash (in IL).

I drive on an Oregon license, so I am not used to IL law.

Vehicle info means nothing, name and address and DL in possession sucks though!

Let us know what happens!

Default how many numbers is it off? 1 or 2 I would say no...just Officer error

especially if he has all the other info correct on the ticket...5 or 6 #'s wrong and might have a chance to get it thrown out, Not a lawyer so WTF do I know?

Default I would say the judge calls your bluff and just says the Officer mis-wrote

2 of the numbers...tough call...

Default If I were a judge I would tell you to go screw yourself....

... and be as harsh as possible just because you're being a cocknocker.

Default I've seen countless tickets dismissed because of errors like that. I've beaten more than

a few for things such as the cop saying I was going the wrong way (marked "Northbound" vs "Southbound"), car type, car color, plate number, etc.

I have always stressed to the judge that if the officer makes such small mistakes, how can I be sure as to his calibration of the radar gun, etc.

Update: My friend of mine who is a 25 years vet IL cop just told me how to handle this!

He said likely the judge will not toss it on the error, though he's seen it happen.

But he said he'd not tell them of the error, go to court, plead your case as "I am sorry, I was speeding as I was late for a flight, or something similar", and hope he just gives you a break.

If he doesn't, the ticket will likely be filed under the other DL# and not show up on ANY of your records. He said you may also be surprised to find that they already have corrected the mistake when you arrive in court, but it's rare. He said that the record keepers in Springfield WILL NOT change ANY citation info post trial without a judges approval (not even for the police or DA) and that judges won't generally hear a case again or issue on something a small as a speeder.

So I'd go to court, hope the cop doesn't show. If he does, don't mention it and hope it just disappears!

Default Only if he tells them about the error. If he doesn't tell them, the ticket will be put under the

other DL #, so ID'ing wouldn't be an issue.

Best thing, in the end, would be to not point out the error and hope it is not caught.
