Anybody live in or near the St. Charles area?
Wife and I are potentially looking for a home out that way. Seems like there are a lot of reasonably priced, charming older homes in a decent area, near the fox river just south of North Ave. Anybody that lives near there have any feedback on the area? Good? Bad?

i do (kinda)...
st. charles is where my S4 sits in the winter time at my rents place. overall, st. charles is quite nice. i am thinking about moving to the st. charles /geneva area where my wife is ready to get the hell out of the city.
the homes around that area are nice, the school district is nice, you really cant go wrong.

I own a business there and I have to say that
the area is very nice, I live in Elgin, but the biz is in downtown St. Charles, I think that anyone would appreciate and enjoy living in that town.

very nice area....there are some rough sections along the river
so check the area first. I know near Copones Resturaunt it is like section 8 housing in that area..have you driven out that way and looked at the area yet?

it's a rehab project that we bought and are going to sell once we rehab it. Whereabouts are you? Our project house is on teh corner of rt.25 and Liberty.

yea I've driven through there a few times. Just went last night to show my wife the area....
it seems like maybe the area south of North ave, and east of the river is where a lot of homes are selling that look interesting.
Is it true maybe the further south you go along the river, the worse it is over there? I saw a few "white trash" looking homes, but nothing disastrous. There were some larger, nicer homes mixed in. It looks like the area is gentrifying. That's why I'm thinking, maybe the property value is on the rise out there.

I thought it was north of north avenue where it got a little rough
anything from St Charles through Geneva and up to Batavia is a very nice area...Its really pretty there in the Fall, best time to check the area out!! good luck hunting
