You know what I dont like?
whiney bitches.
First of all, I'm just pokin' fun and laughing at the people who keep talking about "small ball" at the water cooler, when small ball never existed on the south side in the first place.
I've got no problem with people coming out of the woodwork. In fact I'm glad about it. Hey, it's civic pride and only natural for people to root for a winner. It's about time the Sox got some recognition around here. Good for them!
What I'm saying is, don't act like you've been following the team all season. Be happy for them and root for them to keep winning, but don't pretend like you know something that you don't. Hey, I'll stand there and cheer right along with you.
Ya know, it would be different if there was only one baseball team in this town, but we have a unique situation here. The Cubs clearly are the team that gets all of the attention around here. People pay more attention to that circus on the north side and ignore the Sox year after year after year. And really, that's fine with me. In fact I like it that way. But then all of a sudden when the Sox are in the playoffs, these same people who deliberately ignored them all of a sudden want to be fans? How lame is that?
Think of it this way... You'd be annoyed too if someone came up to you and started bugging you and talking sh*t about Audi's and track racing, pretending to know stuff about the cars when they really don't know sh*t. You put in the time, did the research, took the time to learn about the car, Quattro, etc... and took the driving classes, invested in the track days, made mistakes, and learned from it. And for that you have a solid base knowledge of your hobby that you put the emotioal investment in. And then some little punk comes along and spends 15 minutes reading one page of info in an internet chat room and all of a sudden thinks they know as much as you. You'd be offended and annoyed too.
If people want to cheer for the team, great, welcome to the band wagon. You'll have your chance to jump off at the next stop after the season ends.
