almost bought a loaded touareg V6 from autobarn today....
but found out right before i signed the papers it had been in an accident 
. I asked repeatedly if it had and they said no. Then voluntarily near the end of the deal, he brought me the carfax and walked away to let me read it.
According to carfax it had been in a minor accident in michigan. I don't care if it's minor, if it's on carfax, i don't want it. He came back and asked why i hadnt signed yet...I told him it's been in an accident, i dont want it.
His reaction was great, he said "What? How do you know that?"
When i told him from the carfax he just showed me, he seemed shocked and took it to his manager, who also seemed shocked. Was kind of entertaing, but sucks, i really did like that Treg. And it's almost impossible to find the V6 with the navi and air suspension.

more so worried about resale if i buy a car that has an accident on carfax
they only knocked off another $200 once i found out about the accident. That's pretty weak, i was expecting something much larger. I wasn't getting an amazing deal to began with, was just willing to pay because it was the exact car i wanted.

i'm going to a lot of driving, the better the MPG the better for my wallet...
on that note,i really should be shopping for 4 cylinder cars, not suv's! I just can't think of anything else i really want.

Thanks - i'll try that. So far I've seen
1. Mismatched paint.
2. Flat paint.
3. Thicker clear coat.
4. Air bubbles in paint.
I heard about magic device called paint thickness meeter that should show if something was repainted.

well i trust you now! Just upset because it was the perfect car for me
might just buy a base model and add the navi myself. Not having air suspension might be a good thing, less things to break.
