................................................

SOUTH BEND -- Two people were killed and two hospitalized after a one-vehicle crash on Brush Trail in Warren Township Sunday afternoon.

According to a report from the South Bend Police Department, a 21-year-old South Bend man was driving east on Brush Trail, west of Adams Road, at about 3:15 p.m. when he attempted to drive around a curve too quickly and lost control of his car and hit a tree. The driver and a 19-year-old South Bend woman in the left rear seat were taken to Memorial Hospital of South Bend with serious injuries.

A 19-year-old South Bend woman sitting in the right rear seat and a man in the front passenger seat, whose age is unknown, died.

Police withheld the victims' names pending notification of relatives.

Results of a toxicology test, which would show if drugs or alcohol were a factor in the crash, were not known Sunday evening, according to a news release.

.................................................

I know we all have a nice twisty road we like to drive on for fun and some times we drive a little aggressive. For me that road is called Brush Trail. It's about 2 miles from my house and winds through a wooded area. It's really smooth and flowing with some nice scenery.

Well, Sunday, after going to get some stuff for my lawn I decided to drive down my road at about 3:00 in the afternoon. Then I found my self to be the first person on the scene of a very serious accident ...... let me tell you it's not fun to find 2 dead people and 2 seriously hurt people in the woods ..... the girl who survived was screaming from the back seat of the car and the driver was seriously messed up .... the 2 people on the passenger side were dead when I arrived ..... I showed up, literally, seconds after the wreck .... I couldn't get the girl in the back out of the car since every time she moved she would scream in pain ..... I held her hand and talked with her for about 15 minutes waiting for emergency services ..... It was one of the worst, most traumatic scenes I have witnessed ..... I couldn't sleep Sunday night and am still haunted by what I saw on Sunday

Default You did good. Awfully sad effects of the combination of youth, inexperience and speed...

Be alert to later/delayed emotional effect this may have on you.

You're a brave man to risk your own safety for that. Kudos!

Default In all seriousness, you should talk to a professional. They are trained to help deal those feelings

But it is a good indication of your character that you choose "fight" when exposed to a "fight or flight" scenario. Many people would have driven past and (maybe) called from home or later down the road.

Does Tirerack offer anything in the lines of an Employee Assitance Program? My company is VERY big, (we have something) but smaller companies may not.

Default Big 2nd.

That young lady was lucky that you were there.

Give your little one an extra big hug every time you see her.

Default wow dude

that is nuts. That was super cool of you to help! I know that you are a good guy and I am sure you didn't think twice about it, but you know, not everyone would have gotten out of their car to help!

I also third, some help might be needed to get that **** out of your head. It is one thing seeing **** on tv/movies, but it is a whole different world when you see it in real life...
