Rebuild on A6 4.2 Engine

Rebuild on A6 4.2 Engine
Bought a 2000 A6 4.2 not too long ago, 150000 miles. Anybody have recommendations on where to go for an engine rebuild? Northwest suburbs is ideal, but can go anywhere around chi. Don't know much about my car, unfortunately. Where can I get realistic recommendations for performance upgrades in the process? Is it worth it? Thanks.

Why would you need a rebuild?
Those engines are bullet proof.....if you needed a rebuild for some reason, I would go to www.car-part.com and search for a used engine, I bet it would be a lot cheaper. The valves alone are super expensive.

Normally aspirated engines get less back from $ spent in HP than turbo engines do.
Its going to take porting and internal work (plus exhaust etc) to get gains worth mentioning, then those will come as expensive $$$.
Supercharger would be an idea.
How its NOT an automatic if you increase the HP....
