Default Another reason I hate Fletcher Jones.my headlight burned out yesterday on my RS6 <long rant>

so this morning I drop by Fletcher Jones thinking a) the porters will not run my car into anything, back it into a wall or leave door dings on the car (all 3 done to previous cars) b) I could get it changed quickly, and correctly (no comment on crap they couldn't fix right on previous cars) c) how much could it cost anyway for a light bulb. So I ask the service guy how much for the low beam on an RS6...without looking it up he says 'thooeessee run bout $480 and that's the part, we'll put it in for free...<gasp>, I laugh...then he says that well they need to run a diagnostic on it to see if it is the thingmabob (I'm guessing ballast or whatever the hell regulates it) and that will be an additional $125...but if it turns out the thingmabob is broke then i just pay the $125 and my $50 certified deductible. I walk out laughing. I am making an appointment with Al.

I called Continental's parts department, the bulb I need is $201.92. So our lesson today is that a) NEVER GO TO FLETCHER JONES, b) don't own an RS6 after maintence expires on wear items, c) go to Al anyway for non warranty stuff.

Default Or d)

Buy an extended warranty, then take it to Al and let him bill the warranty company.

But FJ isn't the only lousy dealer out there. After 5 weeks without my allroad while a dealer in Pa replaced the blown turbo, get the car back and it still isn't right. Bad oil leak from the left side of the engine compartment (leaving a 12" diameter puddle on the driveway every night). Among other problems related to their work. You'd think after 5 weeks they'd get it right.

Default Fletcher Jones = ambience

From what other Audi dealer in the region can you a) walk to lunch at Table Fifty-Two, b) have drinks at Gibson's or Tavern on Rush and c) do your Christmas shopping at Frenchy's?

Default You can get a set of two new bulbs from ebay for about $60

And change them yourself. The dealers get absolutely stupid money for those things.

Or find them, buy them, and have Al change them.

Heck, for $100 labor, I'll do it!!!

Great ambience while your car is sodomized - you decide.

Default That seller that used to sell them for $68 shipped has raised his prices to $92 shipped (pair)...

...still a good deal considering that my local dealership wants $250 for a single bulb EXACTLY the same as the ones on eBay.

Make sure you buy Philips, not Osram...the Philips burn slightly "whiter" than the Osrams.

Default dealer in PA knows they wont ever see you again.... unfortunate, but true with alot of shops.

2nd on the extended warranty...... I LOVE crushing some of my good customers extended policies....

Default Notice that I never mentioned anything beyond the surrounding neighborhood.

My car went the FJ once for service. The service was okay but I was not left with a positive feeling. I rather drive a 100 miles or visit CPT for service than FJ.

Default $189 for one at continental...should have seen these posts first but already went and got it...

as I am already speeding around i don't want to draw any more attention to myself with a headlight out. Would do it myself but its a little tricky in my current state of having one hand so not as easy to work on the car as it used to be.
