MIL is getting a XC90 on Friday. Friend has owned 2 V70R wagons. They seem to be solid cars.

Default "Porsche designed 5cyl " - eh?

All i know about Volvo is that they steal Audi's technology about 2 years after it comes out, persistently.

However, your car in that picture looks great!

Default I've got an XC90 and have driven the XC70.....

The 70 is about 1500# less, virtually same inside, great ride and more than adequate power (as long as you get the 2.5 turbo).

Because of the weight, the 90 has a tie rod issue (fixed for free under a recall) by the 70 doesn't.

No problems or complaints. I like it a lot.

Porsche/Lotus the only two manufacturers that do outside engineering.

Default Yup. Porsche does a lot of outside engineering- even for Harley and Mercedes...

the Harley V-Rod liquid cooled double overhead cam injected engine is a Porsche design.

and recall back to the late 80's when Mercedes came out with the 500E- basically a big V8 stuffed into the older style e-Class body. They sub contracted the design and manufacture of that conversion to their Stuttgard neighbors. Thus the car came to be known amongst owners as the 500E MBP (Mercedes Benz Porsche)

And Lotus has always been bettern known for their engineering consulting than building cars.
