Any opinions on the North Pond restaurant?

We're in your town for one night before heading south to Bourbonnais for Thanksgiving.

Any other suggestions appreciated. We like innovative food of all types.

We went to Tru last time. It was fine, but we'd prefer someplace more down to earth.

Great place-been there 3 times.Unique food and atmosphere. Meritage & Boka are also really good.

North Pond is reliably good. Other restaurants to consider in this category are...

- May Street Market
- Table 52
- Spring
- Blackbird

A touch above would be Alinea (like a Tru, but much better) and Arun's (if you appreciate four star Thai).

North Pond is great...

The new spot for home cookin' is Art Smith's Table Fifty-Two. The reservations are usually hard to obtain but well worth it.

Overlooked the line about wanting "down to earth" places...

so for that, I'd say these choices:

- May Street Market
- Meritage
- West Town Tavern (it's NOT a tavern!)

Tru: "It was fine..." Understatement of the millenium.

You can't beat North Pond for the setting and the atmosphere but I'm indifferent to their food (after 3 visits).

When "innovative" food is discussed, it always seems to revolve around Moto and Alinea. I've been to neither and both are Tru price ranges.
