Panicked moment this morning..

My A6 had sat since Wed morning in the freezing rain & snow, and this morning the driver door opened with a crackling of the door seal (note to self: apply lube). I got in and pulled the door shut, and watched as the door promptly bounced open again. Flashback to 10 years ago, same weather (diff car), where the first attempt to close the door ended up bending/breaking the door latch, leaving me to drive 30 miles holding the door closed, which is harder than it sounds.

Thankfully a few shots of WD40 and 15 minutes with the heater on full-blast freed-up whatever was frozen today, but i'll be ginger with the door closing for a while.

My old X5 did that everytime the temp dropped near 20. Sucks.

I know the feeling...

The odd part about my door is that sometimes during the summer it would do the same thing, but if I closed it really gently it would catch.

Now with blizzard conditions and lower temps I can't get my drivers door on my 2001 AR to close. If I poor warm water over the outside handle and the actual opening for the latch it seems to work????

Let me know what you figure out, I might try to get time to pull the door panel this weekend.
