Champ car/Indy car merger looks like it's a done deal. maybe open wheel racing has a chance

Kind of like the Daimler-Chrysler "merger". Not much merging, just IRL taking control of Champ Car
Mainly IRL tracks, IRL cars, etc.
The "save the series" champ car from 16 months ago is dead.
Glad it happened, though, as another Champ Car/CART financial failure was looming and IRL is NASCAR's WNBA. No matter how sketchy, it was still going to be funded.
