~~shudder~~ what to buy if replacing allroad within 6 mo?...
So I'm beginning to think about other vehicles, just for the sheer driving experience of having something else.
If you were to go to a large sedan & still wanted sport & chutzpah, what would be your considerations? So far I'm thinking...
1 - '03 BMW 745iL or '04 5 series (I think the 745's can be had for a bargain, as nobody likes the idrive)
2 - A8, although a bit on the pricey side
3 - Cayenne S, only because at this stage the turbo is not affordable
4 - Volvo V70R, sedan or wagon
5 - Chrysler Pacifica - just kidding, that one was for humor's sake!
??.... Just want to start looking at what's out there.... It actually saddens me to think about giving up the allroad, but before I just get another one, I owe it to myself to look at what's out there.
what about he vw phaeton?
any rs6's hanging aroung down there? ummm. now that would be an option!
When you marry each cylinder bank to two high-boost turbochargers, performance becomes more than just an option. It's a visceral thrill you have to experience to fully appreciate. The new A6 2.7 T S line is yet another example of how we're turning up the heat and pumping up the volume. And we're not just talking special badging and nine-spoke 18" wheels. Check out the discreet RS 6-style rear spoiler. With 15 more horses, the biturbo engine now puts out a stout 265 hp and takes off from 0-60 in 6.4 seconds. Factor in quattro® all-wheel drive, a road-reading four-link front Sport suspension and a five-speed Tiptronic transmission designed to anticipate your every move and it's easy to see what all the fuss is about. Straightaway or sharp turn, the new 2.7 T S line shines
If you're seriously considering the Cayenne (and I think that would be my choice), also check out a loaded-up V8 Toureg. The Cayenne is stiffer and will handle better, but the Toureg will provide more for your money in terms of goodies (e.g., you can get a Toureg with the adjustable suspension for the cost of a rock-bottom Cayenne without it). It'll also cost less to maintain. HPH
