Got Falken Ziex-512 for AR (Z rated speed) - First Impression
Today, I finally replaced my tires. Found a Discount Tire dealer here in NC. Ordered the Falken Ziex-512 tires Monday and it came today (Wednesday). I finally discarded my very noisy and worn out Pirelli P6 at 23k miles. I paid $567.00 for 4 tires mounted and balanced (with tax). The Falken 225/55/17 is rated Z and has a 97 load. As I was driving home, I just couldn't believe the difference - like I was driving a different car. The Falken Ziex was so smooth and quiet. I only heard the sound of the wind. I cornered at 85-90 mph and the grip was great. Will have to monitor after a 1000 miles, but for now - Wow ... I'm impressed with performance, ride, quitness, and price!

Still have less than 1,000 miles on them as well, but so far I can say the same you have.
Though I had them in Tahoe snow last weekend and must say I was thinking I should have gotten the Nokian WR as I slid down a snow packed road nearly through a stop sign into the Squaw Valley access road.

You're right, but it's a tough call in the SF Bay Area
I only make a handful of trips to the mountains each year. Our weather down here is 6 months rain and 6 months dry so a good A/S really makes the most sense. I did think hard about getting dedicated snows for my stock 17" and 18" RS6 reps for summer, but couldn't justify the cost for only a few trips each year. 99% of the time my Ziex will be just fine.
But having experienced that slide, when I was crawling down the hill to begin with, really highlighted the weakness of <most> A/S tires. Though not the Nokian WR, by what I've read here, hence the statement in my previous message.
