Only 2.7T ARs for next year?
Was chatting with a friend of mine (from the local Audi dealer) a couple days ago. He mentioned something interesting. From some paperwork he was reviewing he noticed there were no 4.2 ARs being made for the U.S next year.
Anybody hear about this? It's possible what he was looking at may have been incomplete.

AllRoad goes into oblivion after 2004 (regardless of engine offering)
And the twin turbo 2.7L V6 also goes into oblivion without replacement throughout the lineup after 2004. At least your friend from your local Audi dealer is partially correct. The A7 SUV (production version of Pikes Peak concept SUV) will replace the AllRoad for 2006. Engine offerings will be the 3.2L V6 and 4.2L V8, both with direct fuel injection.

The Pikes Peak is a truck (yuk) ... what about the A6 or A8 wagons?
The subject line says it all. The Pikes Peak is a truck -- a very nice truck, I'm sure -- but a truck. And as a truck it is hardly a substitute for the allroad. On the other hand, the Avant versions of the A8 or A6 may just be respectable replacements when the allroad is discontinued.
There has been some discussion here in the past few days that the new A6 wagon (Avant) may have adjustable height suspension and a worthwhile engine (neither of which are true of the current A6 wagons.) The A8 will have all the bells and whistles but it may be too large.
Happilly, my allroad has less than 25,000 miles on it and is going strong but I am already vaguely scanning the horizon for my next car. (See other threads for my thoughts.) But of one thing I am certain, it will not be a SUV truck.
