Default What is that 1-1/2" square grill 1/3 up the passenger side only B-pillar?

It looks similar to a plastic speaker grill and is light grey in my black interior. Could this be the interior temperature sensor? Odd place for it if it is. I thought it might be some kind of access plug but then again there is no corresponding grill in the driver's B-pillar.

Default Pic? I don't see such on my 01

Though there is one on the driver's side, not the passenger.

Default not in my 01, either.

not sure if this would matter or not, but - for the record - I have the optional side/rear airbags.

I would hazard a guess that it's a part of security system (like the 4 sensors at the top of each B-pillar).

Default Yes, my 02 has motion sensor...

..try looking on your B pillar, driver's side, inside the door frame, where your trunk release button is. The other button just above (or below) that is your motion sensor button. If you press that before you get out & lock your car, it will cancel out the motion sensor.

So if you leave Fido in the car with the windows down while you drop off a fedex (uhh...not that I've done this of course! ha), and you lock the car, and Fido moves, the alarm goes off unless you press that button when you get out.

The sensitivity of this sensor is something you can also adjust with your VAG-COM tool.
