Anyone have feed back on simple brake upgrades
I am looking at replacing my rotors and pads. No real need, getting close, I have 41K miles at this point on my '01 ar. I ordered the ECS Zimmerman made cadmium coated slotted/cross-drilled rotors adn PBR Ceramic pad set. I know a lot of the VW/Audi B5 platform guys have used zimmermans and have been more than happy. I also have a lot of confidence in products from ECS. just looking for any feed back or opinions/experience with these products. Not that it will make much of a difference since they are already ordered, but I have not seen much discussion on brakes here.
I will be doing the work myself, so I will document the work and do a write up with photos. I have done many front brake replacements on A4's/Passats, so this should be easily done as well....since from what I gather, the brake set up is the same as what comes on the B5-S4. Can anyone confirm this?

I would think a number of us would be interested in your results
having gone through the rotor swap three times in 40k, I know I'm looking for an upgrade, even though Audi seem happy to replace when ever I ask.

Good choice on the rotors! I have the same on my '01 with Mintex redbox pads.
I pulled out my Dba slotted rotors because they were giving me vibration problems with Mintex. Zimmerman drilled/ slotted work great. Got mine from Ecs also. No experience with your pads though. Should be fine.

go to www.ecstuning.com for prices...but for the lazy...
slotted and cross drilled rotors, $199 per pair, and the pads were $99 for the pair. I am also doing the 710N DV's at the same time, they are pretty cheap through them, and think it is about time for the change. Wanted to do the Forge upgrade, but $270 right now just to see if it makes a difference was a bit steap.<ul><li><a href="http://www.ecstuning.com">http://www.ecstuning.com</a</li></ul>

Yeah, was thinking OEM replacement, but for the money, you can't go wrong with Zimmermans....
I am covered under Audi Assured as well, but I want something better than OEM, and this upgrade is cheaper then OEM rotors and pads...so why not? Right?!? I have heard nothing but good things about Zimmermans so IMHO, I can't go wrong.

Hmmmm, I had not heard that, but I guess I will find out and let you all know...
If those don't work, I may end up with Mintex, but I have heard mixed reviews about them, high amounts of brake dust, not as good of stopping as they claim...all this on B5 platform cars. Thanks for the info, good to know.
