Another Question to AR '04 Owners...
Yeh, I am on a roll today.
The new '04 4.2s have chain drive. Have any of you experienced a high pitched noise immediately after starting? The noise disappears after the car reaches operating temperature. When I took delivery, I recall my sales guy telling me about the chain drive, and the noise you may hear.

Chain drive is nothing unique..
But like all mechanical systems they require warm up and lubrication. If you are so inclined, use a stethascope, or a 2 ft length of garden hose. One ende to your ear, the other end at the engine components at start up. this can help you narrow down where the noice it comming from. It could be a simple and common as the power steering pump, a belt(if any) or the chain drive, idlers, pulleys, etc.

Don't know what the cause is, but my new 4.2 (2000 miles) definately does that. As soon as it warms up the high pitched sound disappears. It is cold out now, and I don't know if it will do it in the spring/summer. Sure hope not.
