I didn't understand what all the bad press was about until...
I decided to change them for ContiCrossContact UHP's. Wanted to try the Michelin Pilot Sport A/S but they don't appear to be available in Europe.
The Continentals are a vast improvement. I realised just how bad the Pirellis really are. Now the car feels firmer and the handling has improved considerably. My advice would be to do yourself a favour and try Michelin or Continental.

Not that impressed with Pilot A/S's
My Pirelli's lasted 24K annd my Pilot A/S's lasted 20K. The A/s's vibrated and would not stay balanced. The P's seem to a lower profile for the same supposed measurement. Oh yeah, they were half the price. So, with 95K on my '01 AR, I am back with Pirellis. May try something else in 6 months as I am driving about 3500 mi per month.
