what's the cost of a new 7A, even available? cheaper than 20vt swap or more?
Thats what I was going to do with mine, until we pulled the head, and saw some not nice things WRT the block...I had picked up a good used bare long block for fairly cheap, but then got the turbo bug, and picked up a 10vt donor car. Sold the 7A short block to a fellow AW'er, who has put it to good use ;-)
But, once its done right, you can expect another several hundred miles out of the thing, even if you have things done like new (more aggressive) cams installed, milled/shaved deck height to raise compression (better run premium), new higher CR pistons, different rods, etc. Doing that stuff is when it gets really expensive to rebuild a 7A.
