SLAB, tell me more of this subwoofer enclosure you wish to build...
is will go in a .7 cu ft box with TWO 2" ports about 10" long each, tuned to about 30 HZ
the sub and ports fire directly into the cabin so they will be very crisp, and smooth.....

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=295-545&DID=7</a

funny thing is, that damn ski bag actually comes in handly when you're renovating and luggin things back from home depot!

how are you designing the box? (what program)
how many watts will you have driving the sub?
i wouldnt use a 4th order bandpass as it has a VERY limited frequency response, and sounds very muddy........you should be able to get the same SPL's out of the ported, with a smoother frequency response and crisper mids (it is an 8" afterall.....very nice to fil the gap until the 5.25" can take over...)
(I also have KEF comps up front - 6.5" in the doors, 1" in the dash)
...well, I got 2x8" DVC woofers now... ...I got room to work with...either one or two...
keep us posteed on the fiberglass enclosure process
