I have the same car as you and have installed a full sound system, if you have questions drop me a line. I used an adire audio 15" tempest with 3.5 cf box, fits perfectly between the two beams int the trunk floor, sounds amazing.

Default nono....we are talking about fiberglassing a box to go where the ski sack is....

its an 8" long throw sub (9.5 mm 1-way throw)

is will go in a .7 cu ft box with TWO 2" ports about 10" long each, tuned to about 30 HZ

the sub and ports fire directly into the cabin so they will be very crisp, and smooth.....

http://www.partsexpress.com/pe/pshowdetl.cfm?&PartNumber=295-545&DID=7</a

Default very interesting. I was planning on 2 x 8"s in a 4th order bandpass firing directing into the cabin

...or a setup to what you're planning.

funny thing is, that damn ski bag actually comes in handly when you're renovating and luggin things back from home depot!

how are you designing the box? (what program)

how many watts will you have driving the sub?

Default im using win ISD betta and alpha....

about 200 watts RMS to the box....

i wouldnt use a 4th order bandpass as it has a VERY limited frequency response, and sounds very muddy........you should be able to get the same SPL's out of the ported, with a smoother frequency response and crisper mids (it is an 8" afterall.....very nice to fil the gap until the 5.25" can take over...)

Default I'm currenty using and Orion XTR 10" in a 4th order bandpass

used to sound better in the GTI hatch (friggen German tanks...) the current config doesn't let enough sound into the cabin. I got it tuned-up, but it still lacks the punch & tightness. That's why I thought of building a new enclosure and venting it via the skibag or two ~3" holes in the rear deck.

(I also have KEF comps up front - 6.5" in the doors, 1" in the dash)

...well, I got 2x8" DVC woofers now... ...I got room to work with...either one or two...

keep us posteed on the fiberglass enclosure process
