The valves on my '95 90 are making a lot of noise between 3&4 thousand RPM!!! Why?

I remember 12v.org stating that lifter noise at high RPM could be due to a bad oil pressure sending
unit. But the site is down and I can't recall the details. Does anyone remember this? The car has 90k miles, is well maintained, and I'm not getting very much tapping at idle. So I hope it's not time to replace the valves.

What does the sender have to do with system pressure? The sender is only a pressure transducer, which reads pressure waves and converts to an electronic impulse. The system pressure is set at the pump, there's a limiter valve (spring backed piston) AFAIK.
Other sources for similar noises are injectors (also piezo electronic) and vacuum pumps.
