Reccomend a tire

im getting some new wheels soon (17x7.5), and unfortunately i dont know jack about tires. i want something with decent all season performance (not sure if ill have $$ to put snows on the stock wheels yet), and good treadwear. ultra high grip is not that important, because i dont drive my car all that agressively, and i dont track it (yet). so for now i just want something that will last, and isnt terribly expensive.

i also need to know what size tire would be good. i hate that 'stretched tire' look, so i want the tire width to be adequate. again, wheel size is 17x7.5

225-45-17 Sumitomo HTZ-II, worked great in snow, yet a hi perf tire

what are you smoking? HTRZ 2 is a terrible snow tire

225 or 235 wide tire. The P-Zero Nero from Pirelli is an ultra high perf. M&S tire.

Sumitomo HTR+ and Pirelli P7000 are both A-S tires in the (ultra) high perf. catagory. There are others that would be decent, do a search by size on TireRack.

Mine didn't work so hot on snow or ice last winter...Many intersections were slid through, and every corner was a pendulum or e-brake corner. That was the ONLY way it wanted to turn.

ymmv freako. drove on snow pack up to mount hood 5 times

so don't take my recommendation, i don't give a ****
tirerack is having a special on 225-45-17 all seasons htr+ for $84. very cheap for this size from the folk that make dunlop for goodyear
