Default Hood Scoop??

Just installed the K&N conversion from TAP, looking for a good way to get more airflow, anyone ever tried a hoodscoop, or heard of it being done??

Default Why not?

For scoops, there is a ram air or cowl induction scoop. The Audi Sport Quattro's had a ram air scoop built into the hood.

On some euro cars some I've seen, people have cut louvers into the front pass. fender to presumably allow air into the airbox. IMHO the vents are not very well designed and probably aren't very efficient.

Still others on this forum have removed the trim strip below the headlights and above the bumper to allow more air into the stock airbox collector. I've tested this with an air compressor and it makes a huge difference in the amount of airflow to the collector behind the passenger headlight.

Default I think it would perform better if you just removed the whole strip.

Miktip's mod does LOOK better though.

I guess it boils down to how much you want for go, and how much you want for show.

I'd rather have a functioning scoop than a S4 badge on my 90... =)

Default because

No. 1 NA engine
No. 2 NA engine
No. 3 NA engine
No. 4 ugly

I do agree that more air is better, but I think the performance benifits for eveyday driving will not be noticable at all and the ugliness outways any benefit it could give to an NA engine. I do reccomend MikTip's mod though.

Default Well, a friend of mine installed cowl induction on his 2.8 12v.

It's 1997 A4 2.8 12v N/A with a throttle body, cams, exhaust, and upgraded ignition. The battery was moved from the cowl to where the stock airbox was. The cowl induction intake was installed where the battery used to be. A hole was cut in the firewall and a silicone hose was used to connect the MAF with the throttle body and the airfilter.

It performs FAAAR better than my stock 2.8 12v. Is it worthwhile? Definitely yes.

You can't see the cowl induction from the outside, although it does make the engine a bit louder.

Basically I'm saying you could make the scoop stealthy if you did it right. Do a search for "Cowl induction", I posted about this mod a few weeks ago.

https://forums.audiworld.com/9080/msgs/117663.phtml</a

I would do that if I was running a daytime track event.
