car sounds fine in gears 1-4, 5 gear makes a bad wheel bearing sound

Default car sounds fine in gears 1-4, 5 gear makes a bad wheel bearing sound
the lousy whirring, changes with speed, power is the same and i can still bury the needle. the sound is not loud, have to focus the hearing to detect it

what can it be

Put it on a lift or four STURDY jackstands and run it through the gears, listening underneith.
