Wierd headunit problem. Audi or Panasonic problem?

Wierd headunit problem. Audi or Panasonic problem?
I reciently bought and installed a Panasonic CQ-HX1083U.

My friend and I got it in and set my presets and everything sounded and looked great. Then I put an MP3 CD in and when it started up, I only had the front 2 speakers working. Eh? I pulled out the CD and set the headunit back to tuner, and all 6 speakers worked. Hmm. Thought it was just the CD, so I put in a regular music CD. Same issue! I was pretty pissed off.
Do you think this is a headunit problem, or some wiring problem. I'm leaning towards a Panasonic problem because why would everything work in tuner but not in the CD mode?
Any ideas? Please help.

Sounds like a headunit problem. If the speakers work on the radio sets and not on a CD, I would think that would be a headunit issue. Now, if the speakers never worked on any setting, radio AM/FM, or CD, then it's a wiring issue.

did you wire anything to the power antenna lead on the headunit?
you may have put the wire that goes to power for the rear speakers there. which would explain radio on = all 6 & cd = front 2
