Default Parts Alert Guys!! For those with V6 Quattro sedans and CQ's....

Balljoints are not built the same!! Just had to replace my right side balljoint after 4 months because the entire assembly split in 2!! Apparently when I did my balljoints last fall I used one German made balljoint and one Chinese made balljoint. Guess which one failed? I called Nick and he sent me a German one pronto(Thanks Nick!)
You can tell the Chinese ones by the brass cap on them. The German ones have steel cap on them and the adjustment holes are smaller on the Chinese ones. There are alot of them in the system so watch out! They are cheaper too by $10-$15.

Default Ahhh...

I had that problem once before. I replaced a ball joint which I bought from the $tealer$hip and within a month it failed. So I installed a german ball joint and its been all good since then.
Was there anydamage done to your car due to that ball joint splitting?

Default Yes, one of my BBS rims got distorted a little. Found out about it while getting new tires...

When one of the wrenches changing my tires told me he saw grease on the inner rim. I thought CV joint but on closer inspection it was the balljoint.

Default The weird thing about this is...

The front suspensions for the fwd 90's isn't different from the front suspension of the quattros, so why is it that there are 2 different kinds of bal joints? Are the chinese ball joints just poorer quality in general, and therefore we just shouldn't use them?
