Type 89 vs. B4 dash

Default Type 89 vs. B4 dash

Hi,

I know the two 'look' the same, but are they made and put together the same?

The reason I ask is my type 89 coupe's dash is extremely squeeky in contrast to my B4 80 which is nice and silent.

Also the edge where the dash meets the windscreen is loose where i guess one of the clips should be.

...in fact, the B4 interior seems like a much better quality than the in the coupe.

Any idea's ??

Default I think your Coupe got beat on.....My CQ's interior is quite nice, only noise is from the rear hatch

catch/latch, which is a known common problem. The dash of the B3 and B4 are virtually identical IIRC.

There has got to be a way to fix it. I can't wait till spring, gonna tear that sucker apart.

Yeah it's driving me nuts too.

The Coupe is a 1992 and the B4 is a 1993....the B4's got more mileage.

Think the only remedy is to rip the thing apart

I just keep feeding those two rubber mounts on the hatch with silicone spray, quiets it right up.

Better solution would be removing the backseat and going with a roll cage for more rigidity though CQ is noticably floppier feeling than the B4 90.

No, it isn't noticably "floppier" than a B4 sedan...The sedan only has two reasons to be stiffer. One is the front tower brace. The other is the rear parcel shelf. Neither of those two add extreme amounts of torional rigidity. Both can be replicated. The front is EASY and cheap. The brace ends are $15/ea from the dealer. Need welded on though. Rear, shouldn't be too hard to add a brace.
