Electrical problems ?
I have an 1990 Audi 90 which is having the following (electrical ?) problem.
When I turn the ignition key one position, the battery, parking and brake light were on but slightly blinking.
After couple of action on the ignition key (without starting the engine), now the water temperature and oil pressure lights are not on anymore and I hear a stange sound (buzz) behind the dash board.
Thank you for your help.
Do a search on replace ignition switch and you will find lots of posts.
Strange electrical problems frequently are traced back to there.....
What about the starter itself ?
For more than 3 years now, I used to hear a mechanical sound (metal friction like) when starting the engine.
I've also removed one by one each fuse to isolate the problem without success.
Any idea ?
Before starting the engine, there is no water level light, the "oil pressure" buzzer is on all the times + when I start the engine, the battery light is weak and slightly blinking.
Also, for weeks now, I don't have anymore rear motion lights.
Thank for your help.

1) I turn the ignition key on (without starting the engine) => the battery light is abnormally blinking
2) I turn off and on the ignition key again (without starting the engine)=> the water and brake lights do not lit up; the battery light is abnormally blinking; and the oil pressure buzzer starts after few seconds. (since then, when I turn on the key, this same problem occurs)
3) The engine starts but the battery light remains blinking (low light)
4) I changed the ignition switch => no change
5) I removed one by one all the fuses and the connector underneath the dashboard => no relation with the problem
6) The car has a ground problem somewhere with the reverse light but when I disconnected the reverse light connector, the same dashboard problem is still there
Is is possible that the dashboard itself is the problem ?

Dash Lights inoperative? License plate bulbs burned out? On some of the 5000 vehicles, a strange thing occurs if both of the rear license plate bulbs get burned out, the dash lights may not function at all. It has been rumored that opening up the glove box may get the dash lights working temporarily.

check this link also:
