Installed electric trunk popper

Overall this was a pain in the ***, but I am happy with the results especially because my trunk is no longer unable to open without smashing out a tail light.

On the last pic it shows how I ran the wire up...along the trunk shock, the wire dangling to the left is just excess.

Oh yeah none of those pics are of the finished project. I'll take one tomorrow b/c it's dark out, but the gold clamp in the second pic is where the solenoid went and I just attached the cable coming off it to the gold bar that opens the trunk.
Aluminum foil stuff is Dynomat...I used to have a nice stereo.

CQ hatch anecdote

On my CQ, you have to put some down pressure on the wing while pushing in the trunk lock cylinder, otherwise the hatch won't open.

When you push down, you hear a faint click.

Yeah I have to hit the button twice, once for a faint click, then the second time for the pop. I think this is a must have for the b3's w/no access to the trunk besides the key. The kit was only $15 anyways.

Your catch isn't adjusted properly WRT the rubber stops. Mine is the same way...Shouldn't have to push down in order to open the hatch, but oh well. That is one of the reasons there is a squeak, IMO. If I have some time, after I get the 10vt finally in along with the B4 front tower brace, I'll make a rear brace...
