Interesting...Did a quick scan of an article (in EC) comparing 6 996tt's.
As it has been said before, bigger isn't always better, and tires have a WHOLE lot to do with stopping ability. I have a feeling the people running non-factory brakes were invoking ABS much sooner, which resulted in longer stops. The "gumball" tires were only found on a couple cars, the others wore Yoke or Michelin UHP street tires.
But, I will say with ABS switched off on our cars, bigger brakes can be modulated easier, have a much higher thermal capacity (Fade? Was ist das?), and work much better at higher speeds. I'll also say that the rear brake size, IMO, is well suited for the 11" G60 setup, but a 12" setup I start to get the feeling that the 9.4" rotor and single piston caliper is too small. Which is why I am looking at B5-S4 rear calipers and B3-90 rotors hung out back. Roommate is also looking at what to do for rears when he bolts up the 13" setup.
So you're still leaning towards front B3 rotors w/S4 front calipers (G60's I presume)? sounds good...
check yah later
Roommates car may or may not end up with an e-brake. He may go all the way to the 276x25 rotor, which would not have an e-brake due to it using a G60 caliper.
